Property Loss Control Consultant, H.S.I.

Our Hanover Specialty Industrial (HSI) department is seeking a Property Loss Control Consultant to join our growing team in a remote based role, in/around the Grand Rapids, Detroit, South Bend or Fort Wayne area. Consultants will be required to travel up to 30% of the year of which 75% may be overnight travel. Those outside of the area will require more extensive overnight travel.
Hanover Specialty Industrial (HSI) designed specifically for small to medium?sized businesses that manufacture, warehouse, transport, or distribute a wide array of high?hazard products, from adhesives and explosives to chemicals and solvents, and more. These exposures require the kind of creative, flexible, and comprehensive insurance policies that many large carriers will not offer.Perform high level property loss control site inspections of existing and prospective policyholders for the Specialty Property Division of Hanover. Generate technical property loss control reports designed to identify property loss control exposures and recommend appropriate controls to minimize the frequency and magnitude of potential losses.This is a full-time, exempt role.
Responsibilities:
Conduct property loss control field inspections of existing and prospective policyholders including consulting with customers regarding solutions to identified property loss control exposures/deficiencies; Workload may fluctuate based on territory and/or experience level. (45%)Generate technical property loss control reports designed to identify property loss control exposures and recommend appropriate controls to minimize the frequency and magnitude of potential losses. (45%)Partner with the Technical/Project Specialist on various projects and initiatives within the loss control department to further develop technical knowledge of the processes and controls specific to the operations conducted at insured locations. (5%)Partner periodically with less experienced Property Loss Control Consultants as a mentor as part of their continued development of skills in report generation, identifying property loss control exposures, and identifying appropriate controls. (5%).
Requirements:
7 - 15 years in a technical and/or engineering related roleBS in an engineering discipline preferredStrong analytical skillsStrong organizational skillsStrong technical writing skillsStrong oral communication and interpersonal skillsBasic understanding of NFPA Codes and Standards or equivalent (Factory Mutual Guidelines) are preferred.Physical Demands and Work Environment:Ability to use a personal computer, handheld devices and other standard office equipmentAbility to travel up to 50% of timeAbility to travel overnightAbility to sit and/or stand for extended periods (75-90%, as appropriate)Able to work in a fast paced or stressful environmentAble to work extended hours during peak periodsAble to work cooperatively.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
